We could all use a good laugh, even if it’s at our own expense.

How often do we take ourselves too seriously? How often do we give into fear and embarrassment over something silly? I think learning to not make a big deal out of small mishaps and slightly embarrassing moments is an important skill to have. It’s a skill I had to intentionally teach myself, but once I did, I started to open up a little more in other ways as well. Here’s a list of 17 reasons to embrace your imperfections and laugh at yourself because we all make mistakes:
- You spectacularly tripped over your own feet
- You mistakenly said “love you” or “see you soon” to a stranger over the phone
- You just realized how ridiculous that outfit looks
- You had to make three trips between the car and house because you forgot things
- You put way more planning into this party than what was needed
- You showed up to a formal work party in jeans and a t-shirt
- You forgot your account password again
- You can’t remember where you parked your car
- You left your fly down or your shoe untied
- You dyed your hair and its new color doesn’t look good on you
- You thought that event was today, but it’s actually tomorrow
- You dropped your fork on the floor
- You started laundry, but forgot to finish it
- You accidentally fed the dog/cat twice
- You spent 10 minutes looking for your phone when it was in your pocket
- You forgot what day it was
- You accidentally started singing that song out loud in the grocery store
